As the smartphone is becoming our 7th sense with a set of amazing features the idea of taking any additional gadgetry with us starts to feel somehow wrong. Especially with digital photography the reaction time to a photo worthy moment has been cut by quite a bit by these handhelds. And newest smartphones carry powerful chips inside. But the optics still suck. And the internal components can´t be shrinked anymore. And won´t get bigger again. So if you are a photographer with an attitude you will still need really good lenses to get what you want. Maybe they are here now. MOMENT claims to have the best mobile lenses in the world. 2 lenses to be precise. A 60mm tele and a 18mm wide angle lens. And they have shrinked them to a size that is impressive when you look at what image quality they deliver (with an iPhone6).
Key selling point beside the high quality materials and production which include ED glass, aerospace grade steel and anodized aluminum are the quasi distortion free edge to edge sharp pictures they make. Once you mounted the lens on your phone. That is enabled by a little adhesive steel plate that sits atop and around the phones camera unit. The lens itself then is connected to that plate. Looks pretty easy and all in all very hi-tech.
Sounds great and looks promising too (here you can see what customers get out of these tiny optics). So if you like to travel light and shoot from the hip these 200 Dollar for the set might not be too much. More MOMENT on Vimeo
