Mattresses. What a boring topic. Only if you need a new one. Then it´s all downs, latex, foam or – eeew– springs! Imagine you´d only have to do that every 100 years. Suddenly mattresses are a hot topic. Daniel Heer stems from a saddle and mattress family clan out of Lucerne, Switzerland. But he decided to take his craft to Berlin in 1999. A good year for Berlin. Here in his workshop just off Alexanderplatz he keeps this old craft alive and knots traditional mattresses. In a very stylish way. Filled with horsehair.
A single bed size comes at about 2000 Euros. But remember – no mattress buying for a 100 years! 🙂
