What do people do after they worked at Apple? Some follow that legendary advice and stay hungry. This is the case with the folks behind the CENTR Camera. And this loopy devices´concept certainly has a lot of Apple appeal. Because it takes available tech components and puzzles them into something innovative. Which is a tiny 360° action camera that shoots in 4K resolution. And of course the design is very sleek.
The camera is only a hand full but packed with technology to shoot the next level videos. 4 cameras with an 5 mp image sensor each deliver the data for the giant panorama that is stitched together in real time. That means for the 1080 p resolution a width of 6900 pixels. Wowsers!
The cameras have a set of frame rates ranging from 24 up to 60 (only in 720 p) that record up to 2 hours on a battery charge. The quick-release battery is recharged through a USB 3.0 port that also managed the connection for extracting the data. Additional connections via Wifi and Bluetooth allow a video preview on a mobile device. The video is stored on the CENTR on an internal 8 gb flash drive that can be extended via Micro SD cards. 3 Microphones capture sound. Photos also can be taken in single- or time lapse mode in 20 mp resolution. Not too shabby either.
The only 250 grams light CENTR in its´splash-proof casing can be mounted to standard tripods or the GoPro system. Nifty.
So there no longer will be a behind the camera. We will all be in it together from now on. The CENTR Camera can be pre-ordered for 399 Dollars with an estimated delivery date of early 2015.
